Practical Digital Tools Workshop

We will dedicate next Tuesday Nov. 19th to covering some basic skills and CC programs we haven't covered in art projects thus far. Please comment with specific skills, techniques, and questions you'd like to learn more about.

  1. I would be interested in some basic Illustrator/InDesign skills... mainly knowing what the difference between Photoshop and the other two is and when one might be preferable over the others, as well as just how to navigate and what the tools do etc.

  2. I'm not entirely sure what to talk about because I'm planning on just animating in photoshop and such, but maybe just explore some more techniques in after effects and photoshop animations? I'm also interested in Illustrator/Indesign etc since I've never used it, just to talk about what you can do with them. Honestly it would be better for me to learn as I go or work more in class so I can ask you about certain things as I'm working on them, since our projects aren't very developed right now and I can retain info better that way.

  3. I feel the same way as Grace. I'm curious about Illustrator/Indesign because I have never heard of it and I don't know what it is. I would like to learn more about Photoshop animation but I feel like there isn't much else to learn. It seems pretty straight-forward though I would like to learn more tricks to Photoshop animation if there are any.

  4. Ditto Rachel, Grace and Ashley: I've only used Illustrator a couple of times and have never used InDesign. I would be interested in a brief overview of those programs and an explanation of what types of projects are best suited for which programs. Like Grace, I'd also like to know some more about animations, namely in photoshop (as that is the program I'm using for my project). I'd also be interested in learning about how to do different types of transitions between animated frames, in photoshop.

  5. I would like to learn more about creating varying scene transitions in after effects

  6. After Effects is still crazy confusing to me, so just going over how to actually create effects on layers and compositions (and what the difference is between the two) would be my biggest thing for this last project. But I agree that Illustrator would be something that I would like to leave this course knowing how to use.
