For
the final project I wanted to do something different and work with 2D animation
in Photoshop. I wanted to make a video with a song in the background, kind of
like a music video. I really like the idea of cartoon characters being a part
of someone’s identity, in that some people really connect with them. So I was
thinking of having a person looking down and in the dumps about something and
all these characters walking across the screen and the person smiling more and
more until their “feeling better” I guess would be the way to put it.
This picture is a rough sketch of
the setup. The person and the background are going to be real photos. The
background will be moving to the left, while the person walks in one place,
making it look like the person is moving to the right even though it’s not
moving across the screen. It’s kind of like the old cartoons from the 60s. The
other characters will be moving on and off the screen though, going from right
to left along with the background.
The rest are of the characters I’ve
already done so far. The photos are all the layers and frames being shown at
once while the video is one of the animations in action. The other two aren’t
long enough to be shown (one isn’t even a second long) but this one is seven
seconds. The characters won’t be this big but I can’t figure out their size
without knowing the size of the person and the background. The song I’ve chosen
is about 4 minutes long.
I'm so interested to see this animation work in Photoshop comes out after you've worked so extensively in Blender. I really love the idea of incorporating cartoons to express identity, but I don't really understand the connection here--how do cartoons impact this character's identity as opposed to his mood? I think the project sounds neat and is headed in the right direction, but perhaps this aspect needs a bit more thought. I'm also curious about the song you've chosen-does that relate to identity, is it a cartoon theme song?
ReplyDeleteI think this is very interesting, I like how the main characters mood is effected by the cartoons, it makes me think off to cheer yourself up you just have to go back to your mindset as a child. One thing that I would like included in the animation is color. I think without color it loses that feel of this is like the childhood cartoons that you used to watch. Its just a though but maybe a color linked up to the changing of moods. Like black & white transits to color when the main characters mood changes
