  1. I really like the contrast of warm colors and cool colors in the first one. It works really well with the “portal” in the tree, separating one world from the other. The second one, though, is the one I like the most. It makes me want to know what is at the end of the path, the way all the trees are lined up. It looks really cool. There is a purple tint in the bottom right corner. I don’t know if that was intentional or not.

  2. These are really interesting to me, they have a kind of "Narnia" vibe. I like the juxtaposition of the man made aspects (pavement, roads) and the trees/natural forms. I like the idea of pathways and of these works being immersive, and kind of transporting you somewhere else (esp. the last two). The first one is kind of inconsistent with the others, but I feel like it has potential. You said they're "possibilities," and they do seem kind of unfinished still. I do like the color and use of light in these. Very cool :)

** sorry my post seems last minute, for some reason I thought we were just preparing the critiques for class, and just saw they needed to be posted on the blog!!

  3. Overall, I think your color choices and use of filters for these pieces work well. Unlike Ashley, however, I think the first piece needs a little more work, I think the portal looks like it's been more or less copied and pasted onto the tree and feathered around the edges. Your two other pieces succeed in looking more believably connected--the colors and the shapes blend well making the pieces look very cohesive. The perspective on the portal on the first peice is right, and the shading on the bottom of the portal/ground has great blending, would you loose the two-world look if you made the rest of the sides of the portal blend more with the tree? Or had more smooth transitioning colors in the portal's sky?

  4. I dig the direction you are going in, all three of these photos seem magical in this regard of conflicting environments. I was going to compare all of them to the wardrobe in narnia, but the one that reminds me the most of it is the third. This is because it is contrasted with a more normal and magical setting instead of two different magical environments in one. Even though this all looks great, maybe play more with the everyday settings contrasted by some magical aspect.
