So far my idea for this is project is to create something along the lines of putting together different videos of water from places like streams, waterfalls, and the ocean to create one soothing video. I would incorporate audio to help induce the idea of relaxation and tranquility. I have always thought of water a something extremely calming to me, but also mysterious, as you guys know I have put water in a lot of my projects because it is so interesting to me.
Your idea sounds relaxing. I can picture the water rushing down and swirling downstream. Water really relaxes me and I am interested in where you go with this. It could be a series of different videos or you could make a story with it, say rainwater making its way down a mountain towards the ocean. I feel that sound really helps with flowing water. Soothing music over a muted waterfall doesn't seem nearly as relaxing as hearing the waterfall itself. I think you should keep that in mind when you are incorporating the audio.
ReplyDeletei would be careful to make the distinction between your piece and those videos of tranquil water sounds that people play as background noise. you are walking a fine line here, so i think you need to figure out a way to really separate yourself from that. what is it that you want to say about water? I think you could focus more on the mysterious aspect and not just the relaxing bit. Maybe figure out a way to really make it about your own relationship with water? just ideas
ReplyDeleteIt's funny last year I done a similar style of video project, I don't have the video as well its in my old universities database which I can't get into but if you have any questions ask away. I would like to see the combination of video and water effects. Maybe try using after effects to try and create a ripple screen effect to represent water. Just to change things up because I know this type of soothing videos have been done before.
ReplyDeleteHere is a clip that I found very useful, its a complilation video of a lot of different water falls thoughout the world, sound effects and all http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lcL678AASFc
