Well, after a chat with a classmate just a couple of minutes ago, I realized I completely misread Melissa's email... I thought we were posting things next week. :S
Below are two of many unfinished pieces I'm working on. I'm taking people who I believe are iconic for their hairstyles, and replacing their bodies with images of other things that I associate with them . I think I'd like to make a poster collage of about 15 of these, that are a series which plays with antique-looking silhouette pictures.
Below are Amy Winehouse and Anna Wintour.
None of these photos are mine. Thanks internet.

The image of the blonde reminds me heavily of Wes Anderson's Royal The Tenenbaums character Margot Tenenbaum. I think that is great even if unintentional. The image that is inside the character seems to personify the characters personality. New York has been portrayed as a chaotic city, as well as, a sign of being part of the upper class. I'm not a giant fan of the woman with cigarettes and I don't think it has the same effect as the blonde with New York in the background. While both follow a similar idea I don't think the Cigarettes is as successful.
ReplyDeletePerhaps if there was another image that incorporated the two images above with something that linked them together it could be considered more of a series. Other than that I think the project has great potential, it just feels incomplete as of now.
